A Disciple Walks in Dicipline

“Everything is permissible for me”—but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible for me”—but I will not be mastered by anything” 1 Corinthians 6:12 (NIV).

The number one vice among Christians is overeating —junk food and fast food. Many overindulge to the point of jeopardizing their health. They beg the fast food restaurants to give them that heart attack in a bag. They tell McDonalds to super-size it, yet they fail to realize that they too will become super-sized. Is this really, what God wants for his people?

Though we are no longer under the law indulging in every activity that we want to may not be of benefit to us for it will master us. Diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol—all destroy and diminishes the quality of our lives.

Yet if we walk in discipline. If we allow Holy Spirit to give us the fruit of self-control—our lives would not be spiraling out of control. We would not need fifteen medications to manage each condition. For, the medications have side effects that can be worse than the problem we have.

If you are being controlled by something else beside the Spirit of God, it may be time to fast and pray in order for it to come out.
